Cervical Ectropion - Assessment & Treatment

Abstract

Cervical Ectropion, Grade */Continuous Mucus\n- The cells usually found in the endocervix, or inner portion of the cervix, have migrated to the ectocervix, or outer portion of the cervix. These cells are usually exposed to a basic pH environment, but the vagina is acidic. In order to protect themselves, they weep an exudate that is similar to cervical mucus.\n- No treatment recommended if you are asymptomatic (no excessive mucus) or are using yellow stamps well.\n- If not using yellow stamps, consider discussing this with your Creighton Model FertilityCare Practitioner.\n- Consider silver nitrate application to the cervix monthly over the next few months to decrease the amount of exudate produced by these cells. Silver nitrate will not lead to dry observations, but should make it easier to determine "everyday mucus" from fertile mucus.
