RRM Physician Spotlight: Kristina Pakiz, MD

RRM Physician Spotlight: Kristina Pakiz, MD

This is the fourth post in an ongoing series spotlighting physicians in restorative reproductive medicine. Previous entries profiled Dr. Naomi Whittaker, Dr. Phil Boyle, and Dr. Patrick P. Yeung Jr..

For women battling chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, and infertility, Dr. Kristina Pakiz, FACOG, CFCMC, offers hope through advanced minimally invasive surgery and the restorative principles of NaProTechnology. Based in Omaha, Nebraska, this board-certified OB/GYN with minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) certification, has spent over two decades championing root-cause treatment for gynecologic disease, helping women reclaim their health and couples achieve parenthood.

She is the owner and operator of Vivify Women's Health and Fertility, LLC. In her medical practice, Dr. Pakiz combines the advanced surgical precision of Da Vinci robotic-assisted and laser excision techniques with a deep commitment to preserving fertility and treating the whole person. Her philosophy is simple yet radical in today's healthcare landscape: listen to the patient, find the root cause, and restore natural function rather than suppress symptoms.

A Calling Discovered Early

Dr. Pakiz's journey into restorative reproductive medicine began during her college years at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Professional Chemist's degree in 2001. While reading Physicians Healed, a collection of testimonies from doctors who had stopped prescribing the birth control pill and trained at the St. Paul VI Institute in Omaha, she was perplexed. "Why have I never heard of this place? I grew up near Omaha, Nebraska," she has recalled.

That curiosity led to spending two summers as a research intern working directly with Dr. Thomas W. Hilgers, the founder of NaProTechnology and the St. Paul VI Institute, compiling data for research that would be published in his medical textbook. The experience transformed not only her career trajectory but her understanding of what was possible in women's healthcare. "I had no idea there was an alternative to the birth control pill for all of these medical conditions. I did not know it was possible to become an obstetrician gynecologist because of my faith beliefs," Dr. Pakiz shared on the Woven Well Podcast.

She went on to earn her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2005.

Education and Training

After completing a four-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in St. Louis, Dr. Pakiz pursued the highest level of training available in NaProTechnology: the St. John Paul II Medical and Surgical Fellowship, jointly offered by Creighton University School of Medicine and the St. Paul VI Institute. She graduated from the fellowship in 2010. She did additional microsurgical and operative endoscopy training at the MOET institute in San Francisco over the next few years.

Following her fellowship, Dr. Pakiz chose to remain at the St. Paul VI Institute, where she practiced medicine and refined her surgical expertise for over 12 years under the mentorship of Dr. Thomas W. Hilgers. During that time, she served as an instructor, training NaProTechnology fellows in robotic surgery and the full scope of restorative gynecologic care, and faculty member and lecturer for biannual educational courses. She also held a faculty appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Creighton University School of Medicine.

Clinical Expertise and Specialization

Dr. Pakiz is a board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist (ABOG) and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is also a Certified FertilityCare Medical Consultant (CFCMC) and a member of the Saint John Paul the Great Society for Procreative Surgeons. In 2025 she obtained a MIGS (Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery) certification to further illustrate her surgical expertise.

Her clinical focus areas include:

  • Endometriosis diagnosis and excision surgery using laparoscopy or Da Vinci robotic-assisted with CO₂ laser techniques
  • Polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD), including ovarian wedge resection
  • Pelvic pain, adhesive disease, and chronic inflammation
  • Infertility evaluation and restorative treatment
  • Recurrent miscarriage with targeted hormonal monitoring and support
  • Premenstrual syndrome and PMDD
  • Perimenopause and hormone replacement therapy
  • Abnormal fallopian tubes (including tubal ligations) with meticulous repair and removal of blockages
  • Abnormal C-section scar excision of scar tissue and repair of the uterus
  • Removal of polyps, fibroids, uterine horns, and more

Having delivered over 1,600 babies during her career, Dr. Pakiz made the deliberate choice to set aside obstetrical practice and dedicate her skills exclusively to treating gynecologic disease. This decision was driven by the overwhelming need for physicians who approach conditions like endometriosis with advanced surgical expertise and a commitment to organ preservation.

Surgical Approach

What sets Dr. Pakiz apart surgically is her commitment to restore the pelvic anatomy to normal. Instead of removing damaged organs, Vivify's approach carefully repairs them, with every aspect of the operation deliberate, placing preservation of fertility and prevention of scar tissue as paramount priorities. She performs surgery at three CHI Health system hospitals: Bergan Mercy and Immanuel in Omaha, and St. Elizabeth in Lincoln, as well as the Omaha Surgical Center.

Vivify Women's Health and Fertility

In the fall of 2022, Dr. Pakiz founded Vivify Women's Health and Fertility, LLC, in Omaha, Nebraska. The practice name reflects her mission: to vivify, to bring to life, to animate, to restore vitality.

Vivify offers comprehensive gynecologic care for women from their first menstrual cycles through well past menopause, including annual well-woman exams, specialty care for pelvic pain and infertility, hormone monitoring, early pregnancy support, and advanced surgical treatment. The practice operates under the principle that "no one leaves Vivify with the diagnosis of 'unexplained infertility.'"

Dr. Pakiz also embraced telehealth as a means to expand access, obtaining licensure in 24 states to reach women across the country, especially those in rural areas. "The treatment of infertility is a very private matter to some couples, and so the fact that they can do the appointment in their home is helpful," she has noted.

Her team at Vivify includes Naomi Davis, PA-C, a board-certified physician assistant who practices NaProTechnology under Dr. Pakiz, along with a dedicated staff of nurses, an ultrasound technologist, and administrative professionals.

The Fertile Hive and Patient Education

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Pakiz is passionate about educating and empowering women. In January of 2026 she launched The Fertile Hive, an infertility support and educational community she describes as "the ONLY membership community of its kind," a safe space where women with infertility can access vetted scientific information and connect with likeminded women, led by Dr. Pakiz and her PA, Naomi Davis.

Dr. Pakiz is a sought-after speaker and educator who has presented at numerous conferences and events, including:

  • Keynote Speaker at the St. Gianna Banquet of her alma mater, University of Nebraska at Kearney Newman Center, April 2025, Kearney, NE.
  • FACTS Virtual Conference (2024), "Dysmenorrhea (painful periods): The Pain You are Not Allowed to Express"
  • Converging Roads Conference, Omaha (2024), on "Medical and Surgical Interventions in Light of the Gift of Fertility"
  • American Academy of Fertility Care Professionals (AAFCP) Annual Conference, July 2020, "The Fourth Trimester"
  • Beloved; a Women's Conference in Sioux Falls, SD, June 15, 2019, "Naprotechnology: Authentic Women's Healthcare in a Culture of Counterfeits"
  • Catholic Medical Association 86th Annual Educational Conference, Denver (2017), with her lecture "Surgery of the Heart"
  • American Academy of Fertility Care Professionals (AAFCP) Annual Conference, July 2016, "Synergistic Success: Practitioners and Medical Consultants Providing the Full Spectrum of Care" Notre Dame Campus

She has been a guest on multiple podcasts, including The Hormone Genius Podcast, where she discussed AMH testing and natural fertility as well as painful periods and endometriosis, and the Woven Well Podcast, sharing her journey into NaProTechnology.

Professional Affiliations and Leadership

Dr. Pakiz is a member of the Saint John Paul the Great Society for Procreative Surgeons, an organization she helped establish and serves as a board member. It was created to connect graduated NaProTechnology fellows for annual educational meetings, research planning, and camaraderie. "We meet once a year for a conference and kind of idea share and plan for research studies and collaborate and encourage each other," she explained on the Woven Well Podcast.

She has also been recognized by the broader RRM community, being listed as an RRM-trained physician alongside leaders like Dr. Naomi Whittaker, Dr. Patrick Yeung, and Dr. Gavin Puthoff in educational resources published by RRM Academy.

The Heart of Her Mission

At its core, Dr. Pakiz's work is driven by a desire to address what she sees as a crisis in women's healthcare: the dismissal of women's pain and the default to suppressive treatments that mask rather than cure disease.

"So many women come to me and say, I know there's something wrong with my body. I know something is not right," Dr. Pakiz has shared. "They have been dismissed by this doctor and this doctor and this doctor, and they keep searching until they find one that takes them seriously."

Whether she is excising endometriosis in the operating room, coaching a couple through an infertility workup via telehealth, or speaking to a room of medical students about the beauty of restorative care, Dr. Pakiz's conviction remains constant: "I was created to be an instrument of healing."

Personal Life

Dr. Pakiz is a wife and mother to five children. A Nebraska native, she enjoys all things outdoors, kickboxing, cheering on her children at sporting events, and taking road trips with her family as far as their minivan can handle.
