HFEA Fertility Trends and Figures 2011

This report of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) presents information about fertility treatment at UK licensed clinics, with pregnancy rates for treatment cycles carried out in 2011 and birth rates for cycles carried out in 2010. The report draws on the HFEA Register and states that clinics are required by law to provide information to the Register about all licensed fertility treatments they carry out. Sections cover the women treated, how treatment was funded, types of cycle, embryo transfers, pregnancy, live birth and multiple birth rates, treatment with donated sperm, and trends since 2008 and since 1991. The report states that the number of IVF cycles performed each year increased steadily from 1991 and was over 60,000 in 2011, and that the overall multiple pregnancy and multiple birth rates fell.
