Abstract
The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) reports preliminary UK statistics for IVF and donor insemination (DI) treatment, storage and donation for 2023, published in June 2025. The report states that in 2023, 52,400 patients had over 77,500 in vitro fertilisation (IVF) cycles at licensed fertility clinics in the UK, and that about 20,700 babies were born as a result of IVF in 2023. Sections cover pregnancy and birth rates using fresh and frozen embryo transfers, multiple births, treatment types since 2019, patients with female partners and single patients, and NHS-funded cycles by nation and English region. The report notes that data on treatments and pregnancies from 2020 to 2023 and outcomes from 2019 to 2023 had not yet been validated, so some data in the report are preliminary and cannot be compared to other reports.
