Forging a New Path to Supportive Fertility: Breaking Up with IVF

This recording captures a live Save the Uterus Club call with Dr. Jennifer Mercier, ND, PhD, a midwife and founder of Mercier Therapy, the visceral manipulation technique for reproductive health she developed in 2005. She spent years working inside large IVF clinics, running ultrasounds, semen analyses, IUIs, and embryo transfer monitoring, all while managing her own stage 4 endometriosis. Dr. Naomi Whittaker hosts the conversation for RRM Academy's Save the Uterus Club.

Dr. Mercier walks through what actually happens inside an IVF cycle: super-ovulation, egg retrieval, ICSI, and embryo development through freezing, banking, or transfer, including where PGT-A genetic testing falls short. She and Dr. Whittaker cover what patients rarely hear in detail: the routine use of plastic in collection and injection, the absence of any national registry tracking IVF-born children or the frozen embryos left in storage, her account of cross-border IVF and undisclosed embryo counts, and how IVF pregnancies show higher rates of preeclampsia, hypertensive disorders, postpartum hemorrhage, and placental abnormalities, with little long-term data explaining why.

Male fertility gets real space here too: how exogenous testosterone and lifestyle factors affect sperm quality, and lower-intervention alternatives such as monitored ovulation induction paired with timed intercourse. Dr. Mercier and Dr. Whittaker close on patient advocacy: infertility is a legitimate medical condition deserving a full diagnostic workup for both partners, not a rigid medication calendar with no explanation.
