Method-Related Pregnancy Rate
The method-related pregnancy rate counts only the pregnancies that happen when a couple followed every rule and still conceived. It is meant to describe the method itself. User choices are set aside. Its companion is the achieving-related pregnancy rate.
The number carries a flaw worth knowing. Simulations show the rate falling on paper as more couples use a method loosely. The method has not changed.1 In one run it fell from 1.2 percent to 0.1 percent while the correct-use rate held at 1.3 percent.1
A very low method-related rate can simply mean that many couples used the method loosely. Compare correct-use rates when you compare fertility awareness-based methods.
