NaProTECHNOLOGY (Natural Procreative Technology)

NaProTECHNOLOGY (Natural Procreative Technology) is a women's health science that works with the menstrual cycle. Dr. Thomas W. Hilgers developed it at the Pope Paul VI Institute. It uses the Creighton Model FertilityCare System, a system for charting daily signs of the cycle. The chart documents how the cycle functions and identifies where it may be abnormal. Physicians trained in the method then investigate the underlying cause. They treat it with medicine (NaPro Medical) or surgery (NaPro Surgery). The goal is to restore healthy function. The method avoids treatments that suppress, bypass, or harm the reproductive system. It is one of the main methods within Restorative Reproductive Medicine. One study followed 1,310 couples with infertility at a clinic in Spain (Sanchez-Mendez et al., 2025). In the raw count, 35.3% of couples took home a baby. By the adjusted measure of the study over time, the rate reached 50% at about 24 months and 62.1% overall.¹
