Peri-Ovulatory Estradiol Panel

A peri-ovulatory estradiol panel is a set of blood draws for estradiol, taken close to expected ovulation. The draws follow the cycle, not the calendar. Estradiol is the main estrogen made by the growing follicle. Its rise reports how well that follicle is maturing.

Timing is the whole point. The follicular phase varies in length between women and between cycles. A draw dated from the first day of bleeding can miss the window. Fertility charting gives the clinician a real marker to draw against.

Measurement is often skipped. One review looked at 258 published studies of unexplained infertility. Fewer than half required a normal hormone profile before applying the label.1
