Life-Table Analysis

Life-table analysis is a way of counting outcomes that allows for couples who leave a study early. It estimates how many would have had a baby if all of them had stayed to the end. The plain count of everyone who started is the crude rate, and it always runs lower.

Restorative care works over months, so the difference matters. In an Irish general practice study of 1,072 couples treated with NaProTechnology, the life-table proportion with a first live birth reached 52.8 per 100 couples at 24 months, while the crude proportion was 25.5.1 A Canadian cohort reported an adjusted 66 per 100 couples at 24 months and a crude 38 per 100.2

Both numbers are honest. Read together, they show how well the care worked.
