RTAC Code of Practice for Reproductive Technology Units (Australia and New Zealand) - December 2024 (Issue 9)

This Code of Practice for Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Units, revised December 2024 and marked Issue no: 9.1, was developed by the Reproductive Technology Accreditation Committee (RTAC) of the Fertility Society of Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) and replaces the Code of Practice of October 2021. The Code sets out Critical criteria, audited annually at surveillance audits, and Good Practice criteria, a third of which is audited annually in a three-year cycle. Under its data reporting criterion, the Code requires each Organisation/ART Unit to provide the Australian and New Zealand Assisted Reproduction Database (ANZARD) with required data in the stipulated timeframe and to inform patients of the uses to which their medical information may be put. The background section states that compliance with the Code is mandatory in all Australian States and Territories for Units involved in the treatment of patients using ART, and that in New Zealand, where the Human Assisted Reproduction Technology (HART) Act 2004 governs the delivery of ART services, compliance is not mandatory.
