Liraglutide
Liraglutide is an injected GLP-1 medicine used for type 2 diabetes and for weight loss. It copies a gut hormone that slows the gut, curbs hunger, and helps the body handle sugar.
Women with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome, now also called PMOS) often meet it as a weight drug. Across 11 short trials, liraglutide with metformin had a high chance of more than 1 kilogram of extra weight loss, set against metformin alone.1 Lower insulin resistance can let ovulation return. These trials tracked bleeding as the sign of ovulation, which is a weak measure.
Human pregnancy data for GLP-1 medicines are limited.2
