DIR Jahrbuch 2007 (Deutsches IVF-Register Annual Report 2007)

Deutsches IVF-Register e.V.

Deutsches IVF-Register Jahrbuch, 2008

Abstract

This yearbook (Jahrbuch) of the Deutsches IVF-Register (D.I.R.) reports assisted reproduction treatments in Germany in 2007 and, according to its foreword, is the 12th such yearbook since 1996. For 2007, the register lists 118 register participants (Registerteilnehmer), 68,122 documented treatment cycles, 64,578 plausible cycles and 42,306 treated women. In this edition, the statistical analyses are supplemented by commentary based on questions frequently asked on the register's homepage, including a section of frequently asked questions from couples about IVF and ICSI treatment. The foreword states that the D.I.R. records treatment cycles without the selection applied in some other countries, so results are often not comparable, and reports a multiple-birth rate of 33 % of children born.
