Abstract
This yearbook of the Deutsches IVF-Register presents the register's evaluation for the year 2000, the fifth annual evaluation of this kind since the establishment of its federal office in Bad Segeberg. The foreword states that 103 participating centres fully documented 61918 treatment cycles for 2000, of which 52857 were plausible and documented in prospective form. The foreword also states that the register supplied data during the debate in Germany about surplus and cryopreserved embryos. Besides IVF, ICSI and cryopreservation results, the yearbook reports counts of pronucleus stages cryopreserved in 2000 and of embryos cryopreserved in 2000 as an emergency measure.
