Abstract
This yearbook of the Deutsches IVF-Register (DIR) presents the register's evaluation for 2005, which the foreword describes as the tenth annual evaluation of its kind since the register's federal office was established in Bad Segeberg. According to the foreword, 58,800 treatment cycles were documented, slightly fewer than in the previous year, under conditions changed by the GMG, which came into force on 1 January 2004. The foreword reports that the register analysis showed about 11% of couples changing their treating physician during treatment, and that the age structure of couples in Germany has shifted toward an older patient group. Further sections report the mean age of women and men from 1996 to 2005 and data on children born, including multiple births.
