Assisted Reproduction · Registries and Reporting
Abstract
This yearbook (Jahrbuch) of the Deutsches IVF-Register e. V. reports assisted reproduction treatments in Germany in 2008. The foreword notes that the register now operates as a registered association (eingetragener Verein) and that, under statutes adopted in 2008, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Reproduktionsmedizin has joined as one of its supporting societies. For 2008, the register lists 120 register participants (Registerteilnehmer) and 71,128 documented treatment cycles, and the foreword gives the average age of treated women as 34.7 years, the highest to date. The edition adds a reproductive medicine glossary intended for patient couples and an account of the D.I.R. within the international network of registers.
