Abstract
The 2021 annual report of the Agence de la biomédecine, titled Du don à la vie (From donation to life), presents the agency's activity across organ and tissue donation and transplantation, haematopoietic stem cell donation and transplantation, medically assisted procreation (AMP) and gamete donation, medical genetics, and research promotion and international actions. The report opens with an interview with Emmanuelle Cortot-Boucher, director general of the Agence de la biomédecine, on the implementation of the new law on bioethics. In matters of AMP, she states that the new law extends AMP to couples of women and unmarried women, allows people to self-preserve their gametes for non-medical purposes and creates a right of access to origins. The report states that a register of gamete and embryo donors will begin operating on 1 September 2022.
